For two decades the Festival has been a destination for new work from established filmmakers as well as emerging creators. Next June\, Tribeca will continue its long tradition of exploring innovations in storytelling across film TV\, VR\, gaming\, podcasts and more. \nSubmissions for the 2022 Festival will open on September 20 for all categories including: feature and short films\, episodic storytelling (Tribeca NOW)\, immersive\, podcasts\, online premieres\, and branded entertainment (Tribeca X). \nThe Tribeca Festival is where exciting voices such as celebrated directors Damien Chazelle\, Jon Chu\, Nia DaCosta and Ryan Coogler first launched their early acclaimed films. The Festival has also been among the first to recognize and highlight emerging new platforms such as gaming\, VR\, and most recently podcasts. \nThe 2021 Tribeca Festival was the first major festival to return to in-person audiences after a challenging 2020 and featured over 250 dynamic events and a borough-to-borough screening series which together\, brought the festival directly to neighborhoods across all five boroughs and to some of New York City’s most iconic open-air venues. DESCRIPTION:Das LICHTER Filmfest Frankfurt International ist ein Fest für den Film. Getragen durch ein hochkarätiges regionales sowie internationales Programm\, rückt es insbesondere diejenigen Facetten der Filmkunst in den Fokus\, die im Kino- und Fernsehalltag oft zu kurz kommen. \nLICHTER entstand aus der lokalen Filmszene heraus. Gegründet im Jahr 2008 von einer Gruppe Filmschaffender sowie -fans\, hat es sich seither vom Szene-Event für eine kleine eingeschworene Gemeinde im selbst gebauten Kino eines Atelierhauses zum festen Bestandteil des (über)regionalen Kulturlebens entwickelt. Der Erfolg gibt den Machern recht. 2017 feierte LICHTER sein 10. Jubiläum und bewies dadurch umso mehr\, wie hoch das hiesige Bedürfnis ist\, die Region\, ihr Publikum\, ihre Kreativen sowie Gäste aus aller Welt zusammenzubringen. \nDas Festivalprogramm will nicht nur unterhalten\, die Kuratoren sind alljährlich auch darum bemüht\, Kino und Diskurs miteinander zu verbinden. Neben den regionalen Kurz-und Langfilmwettbewerben\, die dem breit gefächerten Filmschaffen innerhalb der Region Raum geben\, steht das internationale Programm ganz im Zeichen eines jährlich wechselnden Themenschwerpunkts. Dieses besticht nicht nur durch brisante Aktualität\, es nimmt vor allem auch gesellschaftspolitische Fragen gezielt in den Blick\, um Debatten außerhalb des Kinosaals zu begleiten und weiterzuführen. Nachdem LICHTER sich bereits den Themen „Stadt“\, „Revolution“\, „Humor“\, „Geld“\, „Grenzen“\, „Wahrheit“\, „Chaos“\, „Natur“ und „Macht“ widmete\, dreht sich in der 14. Ausgabe des Festival im Jahr 2021 alles um das Thema „Wandel“. \nAn der Schnittstelle zwischen Film und anderen künstlerischen Disziplinen\nDaran anknüpfend erscheint es umso wichtiger\, die Schnittstelle mit anderen Kulturinstitutionen und künstlerischen Disziplinen zu suchen und zu festigen. Der Brückenschlag zwischen Film\, künstlerischen Ausdrucksformen und gesellschaftlichem Dialog macht LICHTER einzigartig unter den deutschen Filmfestivals. Namhafte Kooperationspartner wie das Deutsche Filmmuseum oder unser Partnerkino Mal Seh‘n sind nicht nur Spielstätte\, Institutionen wie das Exzellenzcluster Normative Orders der Goethe Uni tragen insbesondere auch zur inhaltlichen Gestaltung des umfangreichen Begleitprogramms bei: In zahlreichen Workshops und Diskussionsrunden fühlen wir der gesellschaftspolitischen Sprengkraft des jeweiligen Jahresthemas in unterschiedlichster Weise auf den Zahn. Der 2010 gelaunchte LICHTER ART AWARD nimmt unterdessen den Bereich der Videokunst samt ihrer aktuellen Entwicklungen und Strömungen auf regionaler wie internationaler Ebene genauer in den Fokus\, während nicht zuletzt der 2017 erstmalig gelaunchte LICHTER VR Storytelling Award sich den verschiedenen Spielarten alternativer Realitäten widmet. \nDen Diskurs suchen\nAußerhalb der Festivalzeit trägt LICHTER mit unterschiedlichsten Formaten\, wie dem Freiluftkino Frankfurt sowie anderen Filmreihen\, Vorträgen und künstlerischen Aktionen im öffentlichen Raum maßgeblich zum kulturellen Leben in Frankfurt und Rhein-Main bei. Die 2018 neu initiierte Sektion „Zukunft Deutscher Film“ geht nun auch gezielt über die Grenzen Hessens hinaus. Die Initiative und der Kongress widmen sich dem deutschen Filmschaffen im Generellen wie im Besonderen und hat es sich zum Ziel gesetzt in enger Zusammenarbeit mit Meinungsmachern\, Agitatoren und relevanten Institutionen im Bereich Film die Relevanz deutscher Filmkunst auch über die Grenzen der BRD hinaus endlich zu verfestigen.

Dabei adressieren die über 110 Spiel-\, Dokumentar- und Kurzfilme\, die sich über sieben Festivaltage und mindestens ebenso viele Sektionen verteilen\, Fachbesucher:innen und heimisches Kinopublikum gleichermaßen. goEast hat sich als Projekt des Deutschen Filminstituts & Filmmuseums der Aufgabe verschrieben\, „tief im Westen“ die Vielfalt und den Reichtum des mittel- und osteuropäischen Kinos stärker in das öffentliche Bewusstsein zu rücken – denn im regulären Kinobetrieb sind mittel- und osteuropäische Filme trotz großer Achtungserfolge auf internationalen Festivals unterrepräsentiert. \ngoEast versteht sich als Brückenbauer auf zahlreichen Ebenen: Handverlesene Programme schlagen den Bogen von aktuellen filmischen Positionen zu filmhistorischen Raritäten\, vom Experiment zum Arthouse und Mainstream made in Mittel- und Osteuropa. Das Festival begreift seine Arbeit stets im Kontext differenzierter gesellschaftspolitischer\, filmästhetischer und filmtheoretischer Debatten. goEast fungiert als Dialogforum zwischen Ost und West\, aber auch als Akteur und Multiplikator kreativer Interaktion: Panels und Workshops\, Vorträge und Filmgespräche\, Kooperationen mit anderen kulturellen und gesellschaftlichen Institutionen zeugen davon. Insbesondere der Branchennachwuchs soll von goEast profitieren: Zahlreiche Vernetzungs-\, Austausch- und Weiterbildungsangebote werden z.B. im Rahmen des EAST-WEST TALENT LABs gemacht. \ngoEast empfängt jährlich rund 400 Fachbesucher:innen und über 12.000 Kinobesucher:innen.
