SUMMARY:Realness – Intimate Garden | Sandrine Deumier
DESCRIPTION:‚REALNESS – INTIMATE GARDEN‘ – Sandrine Deumier\nOPENING: February 20\, 1-7pm\nRECEPTION: February 20\, 7-9pm\nEXHIBITION: February 20 – February 23\, 1-7pm \nsynthesis gallery is pleased to announce its latest exhibition ‚Realness – Intimate Garden‘ by Sandrine Deumier. \nDeumier creates virtual environments where amorphous\, anonymous\, beautifully complex humanoids live in organic symbiosis with their natural environment. The cybernetic garden by Deumier is ever mutant with its creatures adjusting to it naturally and gracefully\, creating boundless kinetic energy and a chaotic\, dense process of highly intricacy containing an almost hidden scaling natural order. \n‚Realness – Intimate Garden‘ explores the boundaries within an artificially created nature and a freshly conceived form of humanity as harmony and osmosis between the two are finally reached. \nThe exhibition is curated by George Vitale and opens to the public on February 20. \nBig thanks to Grover for the ongoing support. \nSANDRINE DEUMIER (b. 1978\, FR\, http://sandrinedeumier.com/) is an artist with focus on video art\, digital poetry\, multimedia installation and performance. With training in both philosophy and the arts\, Deumier explores the intersection between video and sound poetry\, focusing on the issues related to technological change and the performative place of poetry\, conceived through new technologies. Her video artworks\, installations and poetry performances have been exhibited nationally and internationally\, among them: Palais de Tokyo (Paris\, FR)\, MIRA Festival (Barcelona\, ES)\, Kuryokhin Art Center (St-Petersburg\, RU)\, Moss Arts Center (US) and Cairotronic (Cairo\, EG). \nSYNTHESIS GALLERY\, the first VR art gallery\, is an immersive blend of technology and art displayed under one roof\, showcasing cutting-edge experiences by new wave artists and visionaries through virtual reality. Founded in New York in October 2017 by George Vitale\, the gallery opened his doors to the public in April 2018 in Berlin. synthesis’ shows have been regularly selected and recommended by Berlin Art Week and participated in art festivals such as Transmediale/Vorspiel and Retune. Pieces are displayed through different media. Tangible and traditional art forms intermingle with Oculus and Vive headsets. Dedicated to exhibiting internationally renowned\, well-established artists alongside emerging ones\, since its inception\, synthesis has garnered considerable attention in the art scene.

SUMMARY:Performersion International – Arts\, Digitality\, Practice
\nProgramm\nDonnerstag\, 30. Januar 2020 \n11:00 Uhr Workshops\nHow to create smartphone based and GPS triggered applications?\nMit Sarah Buser\nHow to design a computer game?\nMit Georg Hobmeier (Gamedesigner\, Wien)\nWie kann man Programmiersprachen als Fortsetzung dramatischer und poetischer Sprachen erlernen?\nMit Martin Ganteföhr \n13:30 Uhr Mittagessen \n15:00 Uhr Fortsetzung der Workshops \n18:30 Uhr Feedbackrunde und Austausch\nMit den Fellows der Akademie für Theater und Digitalität und dem Studiengang „Spiel && Objekt“ der Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch \nFreitag\, 31. SUMMARY:It’s Dark Inside | Evelyn Bencicova & Armin Keplinger
DESCRIPTION:IT’S DARK INSIDE – Evelyn Bencicova & Armin Keplinger\nEXHIBITION: December 7\, 1-9pm\nPUBLIC RECEPTION: December 7\, 6-9pm; complimentary drinks kindly provided by BrewDog\nVENUE: TBA one day before the show; use the ‚Reserve a spot‘ button above or email giorgio@synthesis.gallery to receive updates. \nsynthesis gallery is a space to experience pioneering artists through VR headsets. Visionaries\, who understand the importance and freedom of this medium\, find a space at synthesis where they are able to play within the conscientious appeal that virtual and augmented reality affords our generation. \nNo games. No cyborgs. Simple sophistication that goes beyond the senses. \nWe understand that if left to the tech industry\, the future of virtual reality can easily morph into a solitary\, corporatized\, irrelevant experience. It does not have to be. \nVR is frequently mistaken as the end\, not the mean\, with the accent placed on the technology – at the expenses of the art. VR art is often delivered without a clear vision and curatorial framework – on the altar of the hype. \n‘It’s Dark Inside’ kicks off a series of bi-annual exhibitions aimed to address these ongoing issues. We are stepping out of our comfort zone/white cube in Kopernikusstraße 14 to deliver shows with solid vision and curatorial efforts. \nNow\, more than ever\, we are taking this time as an opportunity to showcase the possibilities. \nE V E L Y N B E N C I C O V A | A R M I N K E P L I N G E R\nin collaboration with Arielle Esther and Joris Demnard \nBencicova and Keplinger play with inter/multidisciplinarity for ‘It’s Dark Inside’: from photography to sculptures and sound performance\, all elegantly interlaced with VR. \nBencicova presents ‘Artificial Tears’: a set of 5 large scale prints intertwined with a VR artwork. ‘Artificial Tears’ aims to challenge mainstream views on photography through an immersive journey narrated by the main character as it wanders through several surreal digital landscapes – a product of its own imagination. Bencicova joins forces with Arielle Esther (sound) and Joris Demnard (VR production) to create a multi-layered experience connecting physical installation with its virtual counterpart. Keplinger presents his latest VR fatigue ‘ms-R’ along with a set of kinetic sculptures and a sound performance. ‘ms-R’ features a moon-sliced ring with zero latitude. As the ring moves slowly in circle around the participant’s view with subtle light and movements\, ‘ms-R’ aims to send the viewer in a journey to black-end spaces. \n‚It’s Dark Inside‘ is curated by George Vitale. \nBig thanks to Grover for the ongoing support. \nEVELYN BENCICOVA (b. 1992\, SK\, http://evelynbencicova.com) is a visual creative artist specializing in photography and art direction. With a background in fine arts and new media studies\, Bencicova’s practice combines academic research with an interest in contemporary culture to create a unique aesthetic space in which the conceptual meets the visual. Bencicova’s commercial and artistic works have been featured in Vogue Portugal\, Vogue Czechoslovakia\, Vogue Korea\, ZEIT Magazine\, The Gentlewoman\, ELLE\, Dazed & Confused and HANT. She has participated in solo and group exhibitions in London\, Tokyo\, Paris\, Berlin\, Milan and Amsterdam to mention few. \nARMIN KEPLINGER (b. 1982\, AUT\, www.arminkeplinger.com) is an artist with focus on digital image creation and state of art CGI techniques. In his practice\, Keplinger explores the interaction between digital and physical spaces as well as the split between different stages of time. His video artworks\, sculptures and installations have been exhibited at Winzavod Moscow Contemporary Art Center\, Opera National de Paris\, Saatchi Gallery and Hessel Museum of Art among other ones.

SUMMARY:Spatial Computing Jam! #2
DESCRIPTION:Interested in virtual or augmented reality\, or anything in between? The idea of the jam is to gather people interested in coding & designing for these technologies for a day to learn and create things together. You can team up with other people\, or just learn something by yourself – no judging. You can\, for example\, choose to create immersive art\, a small VR game\, test out keijiro’s latest Unity scripts\, build fancy interactions for Oculus Quest\, or perhaps learn how to create face filters. \nThere are no prizes and no stress. You can have years of experience or be a total beginner. Collaboration between disciplines\, spontaneity and experimentation is highly encouraged! \nGEAR:\nWe won’t be providing any devices\, and so we encourage anyone who has VR/AR or other spatial computing related gear (e.g. input devices) to bring them with them. If you have extra devices lingering around\, and you feel confident lending them to others\, feel free to bring them with you for others to play with. \nSCHEDULE:\nCome around 12\, we’ll aim to start around ~12:15 with a little introduction round to go through what everybody would be interested in doing. Around 6pm we’ll have brief round-up of what everybody achieved during the day and share the learning. \n—– \nSAFE SPACE POLICY: We support the Berlin Code of Conduct:\nhttps://rubyberlin.github.io/code-of-conduct/\nPlease make sure you agree with its content. \nNOTE ON DIVERSITY: We welcome all people equally! ? \nACCESSIBILITY: Co.up rooms are located on the third and fifth floor\, so we will happily provide assistance with the elevator to those who need it. Toilets however are unfortunately not wheelchair accessible. Please let us know how we can make the space more accessible and your visit more comfortable. \nSUPPORT CO.UP: Co-up is a wonderful event space\, which hosts a lot of meetups during the month\, for free! You can support co.up\, the event space provider\, by monthly or single-time donations (read more here https://co-up.de/support-us/) and buying drinks from the fridge during the event. SUMMARY:Zero Latitude | Armin Keplinger
DESCRIPTION:ZERO LATITUDE – Armin Keplinger\nOPENING: November 28\, 1-6pm\nOPENING RECEPTION: November 28\, 6-9pm; complimentary drinks kindly provided by BrewDog\nEXHIBITION DATES: November 28 – December 1\, 1-7pm \nZERO LATITUDE premieres a new body of artworks by Armin Keplinger\, including the VR-installation ‚ms-R‘ alongside kinetic and live-triggered sound sculptures. \nWhile melting together digital and analogue\, the show investigates different states of void and infinity\, the collapse of unstable conditions – and their tipping point – as well as ever-changing sculptures over time. \nFramed around these key themes there is Keplinger’s latest fatigue in VR ‚ms-R‘\, featuring a moon-sliced ring with zero latitude. As the ring moves slowly in circle around the participant’s view with subtle light and movements\, ‚ms-R‘ aims to send the viewer in a journey to black-end spaces. \nThe exhibition is curated by George Vitale. \nBig thanks to Grover for the ongoing support.
