Es wird darum gehen\, Ansätze und Ideen des Projekts zu bewerten. \n[Agenda folgt!] \nHintergrund\nDas Projekt Inspirer entwickelt und testet V/AR-Lösungen für die Bürgerbeteiligung bei öffentlichen Bauvorhaben in Fellbach und Berlin. \nMotivation\nStadtplanungsentwürfe werden bereits in frühen Phasen öffentlich vorgestellt und diskutiert. Durch ein Beteiligungsangebot auf Basis weit verbreiteter Medien und intuitiv zu bedienender Werkzeuge sollen Bürger/innen transparenter und partizipativer in die Entscheidungsfindung einbezogen werden.\nZiele und Vorgehen \nVorgehen\nDie Forschenden des Projekts INSPIRER entwickeln eine Anwendung\, mit der mehrere Benutzerinnen und Benutzer per Mixed Reality-Technologie kooperieren können. Virtuelle Planungsstände lassen sich somit immersiv erleben. Die Interaktion funktioniert über intuitive\, virtuelle Bedienelemente. Somit erlaubt das System breiten Schichten der Bevölkerung\, sich an demokratischen Entscheidungsprozessen besser als bisher in der Stadtplanung zu beteiligen. Der Entwicklungsprozess wird durch eine partizipative Evaluation begleitet. Dabei soll erforscht werden\, welche Technologien für die Einbindung der unterschiedlichen Nutzergruppen besonders geeignet sind\, und wie durch eine verbesserte Immersion eine erfolgreiche Umsetzung von Stadtplanungsprozessen erzielt werden kann. Ethische\, rechtliche und soziale Aspekte stehen dabei im Fokus.\nInnovationen und Perspektiven \nDas INSPIRER-System für partizipative urbane Planungsprozesse beinhaltet grundlegend neue Verfahren\, beispielsweise Outdoortracking. SUMMARY:X-TALK: Virtual Immersive Concerts
DESCRIPTION:The pandemic has also brought about a digital transformation in concerts. But how immersive can a digital live music event be and what conclusions can we draw from this for the time after Corona? Lukas Haack dealt with this topic in his master’s thesis. We are delighted that he will be sharing his exciting findings at his X-TALK on February 10. \nABOUT THE TALK\nAccording to the European network for live music associations DMA\, 2020 saw an unprecedented 70% decline of music events and artist performances and 76% decline of audience visits. Contact restrictions due to the newly emerged coronavirus are still forcing artists and live music venues to find new sources of income and constitute new forms of digital events. The 2020 pandemic showcases the lack of immersion in live streams e.g. via YouTube\, Instagram\, or Facebook or web conference systems such as Zoom\, Skype\, or GoToMeeting when aiming to substitute physical events using already existing technology. In the era of the metaverse and ubiquitous computing\, where mobile devices\, VR glasses\, and the internet can be used to stream events\, virtual concert events are becoming an increasingly relevant topic of discussion. \nLukas’ master thesis is an approach to formalize the dynamics of a physical concert experience and then translate the individual psychological factors by means of communication technology to the computer-mediated context\, combining several research disciplines from the social sciences (such as psychology\, communication science and media studies) as well as computer science. \nABOUT THE SPEAKER\nLukas studied Communication and Media Computer Science in Dresden\, Linköping and Amsterdam and graduated with his master-thesis on “Virtual Immersive Concerts”. While also working as a trainer for public speaking\, negotiations and intercultural communications\, he received a Diplomacy Award from Harvard. Ziel ist es Dir einen Einblick in die Welt von Extended Reality zu verschaffen. DESCRIPTION:Extended Reality as a Booster: Opportunities and Challenges for Immersive Technologies in the Healthcare Sector \nThe potential for the application of extended reality (XR) technologies in healthcare is great and is currently being driven by a wave of technological innovations and the Corona pandemic as an additional catalyst. The solutions will benefit not only the scientific and professional groups directly involved in health care\, but also patients\, their relatives\, medical organisations and\, last but not least – resulting from the demographic situation\, among other things – society as a whole. \nIn Germany\, XR applications are still in their infancy compared to the international competition (especially the USA and Asia). On the one hand\, it is therefore important to consistently raise awareness of existing and future opportunities (extended reality technologies as a key element of digitalisation in the healthcare sector) in order to secure Germany’s future viability. On the other hand\, there are fundamental questions that need to be answered in terms of a European approach to digitalisation in the health sector. These include dealing with ethical principles\, data protection and security as well as an evidence-based consideration of XR technologies in a psychological or medical context. \nIn this Meetup we’ll give a short overview about the current status of XR in healthcare\, present examples how XR could accelerate the development of „Assisted Services“ in hospitals (2nd and 3rd tier processes) as well as VR based training and therapy examples. DESCRIPTION:The IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces (IEEE VR) is the premier international event for the presentation of research results in the broad areas of virtual\, augmented\, and mixed reality (VR/AR/XR). Since 1993\, IEEE VR has presented groundbreaking research and accomplishments by virtual reality pioneers: scientists\, engineers\, designers\, and artists\, paving the way for the future. Soon\, IEEE VR expanded its scope to also include augmented\, mixed\, and other forms of mediated reality. Similarly\, the IEEE Symposium on 3D User Interfaces (3DUI)\, which started as a workshop at IEEE VR in 2004\, has become the premier venue for 3D user interfaces and 3D interaction in virtual environments. In 2018\, VR and 3DUI were merged into the IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces\, with the short name IEEE VR. In 2020\, VR was the first major IEEE conference to be held entirely online and in a virtual environment. \nCome and Join Us\nThe safety and well-being of all conference participants is our priority. After evaluating the current COVID-19 situation in New Zealand and the uncertainty around International travel\, the decision has been made to transform the in-person component of IEEE VR 2022 into an all-digital conference experience and will now be an online event. Therefore\, IEEE VR 2022 will no longer take place in Christchurch\, New Zealand and will instead take place virtually. The conference dates remain the same (12 – 16 March 2022). Proceedings will not be cancelled\, and publications will continue as planned. \nOur goal is to provide the best experience for virtual attendees\, following in the historical footsteps of the virtual experience of VR 2020 in Atlanta and VR 2021 in Lisbon. \nWe are still hoping to run a small meeting hub in Christchurch for those who are able to travel locally. Sie erstreckt sich über einen Tag und ist in zwei Teile gegliedert.\nDer erste Teil setzt den Schwerpunkt auf die Vermittlung von grundlegenden Kenntnissen und aussagekräftigen Beispielen: Auf eine kulturhistorische Beleuchtung der noch jungen Technik folgt die Diskussion aktueller AR-Anwendungen im Kontext künstlerischen Ausdrucks. Auf dem Programm stehen außerdem ein Überblick über die benötigte Hard- und Software und eine Klärung wichtiger Begrifflichkeiten aus der AR-Programmierung.\nDer zweite Teil richtet den Fokus auf das analoge Konzipieren und Entwerfen von AR-Anwendungen im Kreativbereich. Wahlweise in kleinen Gruppen oder im Alleingang formuliert und visualisiert ihr Ideen\, stellt sie zur Diskussion und entwickelt eure Prototypen anschließend weiter. Eine Abschlusspräsentation bietet abschließend die Gelegenheit\, mit dem Projektpersonal über die Erzeugung noch fehlender Inhalte und das Potenzial einer technischen Umsetzung ins Gespräch zu kommen. Alle AR-Weiterbildungen finden bis auf Weiteres digital via ZOOM statt. \nAn der AURORA School for ARtists habt ihr die Auswahl zwischen fünf Weiterbildungen zu Augmented Reality und digitaler Medienproduktion. Für einen perfekten Einstieg empfehlen wir euch ganz unabhängig von individuellen Vorkenntnissen einen Besuch der ersten Weiterbildung zu »Beispiele\, Konzeption und Entwurf von Augmented-Reality-Anwendungen im Kreativbereich«. \nDie fünf Kurse bieten einen Einstieg in die Produktion von AR-Apps und bauen inhaltlich aufeinander auf. Die meisten Teilnehmer/innen nutzen das gesamte Weiterbildungsangebot. Es folgt in Kürze ein Update! \nEinen Tag lang geht es in dieser Weiterbildung um die Produktion von AR-Anwendungen mit der Software Unity und Vuforia. Zunächst werden grundlegende Fragen geklärt: Was macht Unity und wozu dient eigentlich Vuforia? Wie spielen die beiden Softwares beim AR-Erlebnis zusammen? Das zentrale Tool bei der AR-App-Entwicklung ist der Unity-Editor\, an dessen Nutzung und Möglichkeiten ihr im Anschluss herangeführt werdet. Mit Unterstützung von AR-Spezialist/innen entwickelt ihr dann schon Step-by-Step erste einfache AR-Anwendungen mit eigenen Animationen! Die Weiterbildung bringt euch schließlich bis zu der Grenze\, an der Skripte und damit die Programmierung für eine individuellere AR-App-Entwicklung ins Spiel kämen.
